Restaurant Zimmerl
Fine dining reimagined. In Waidhofen an der Thaya, Zimmerl is a fine dining restaurant that combines culinary craftsmanship and high-quality interior design in a unique way. Designed for only 18 guests—four of whom sit at the chef's table with a direct view of the open kitchen—the restaurant stands for intimacy, exclusivity, and a new dimension of enjoyment.
The interior we designed reflects the philosophy of chef Bernhard Zimmerl: precise, high-quality, and full of personality. The color scheme of pine green, black, and bronze creates an elegant, calm atmosphere. Custom-made seating alcoves, acoustic wallpaper featuring an image of the fog-shrouded region, and a mirror attached to the ceiling create spatial depth and visual dynamism.
A central design element is the chef's table at the pass, which makes the proximity to the kitchen part of the spatial experience. The lighting—exclusively with luminaires from Occhio—has been staged dramatically: with targeted spotlights above the tables and subdued ambient lighting, a setting is created that is both a stage and a place of retreat.
The result is a space that will remain in your memory not only for its cuisine but also for its atmosphere—thoughtfully designed down to the last detail, inspired by the region, and created for special evenings.
